Temperament
A good natured working dog. He will get along well with his people. However early socialization, and training is recommended because Schapendoes can be on the stubborn side. He will need a strong packleader to teach them some manners.
Grooming/Exercise
The Schapendoes will require extensive brushing and combing to keep his coat healthy and free from twigs and debris that he will pick up. Brushing should start at an early age to get them used to being handled. The Schapendoes is going to require a fair amount of daily exercise with long walks. They will also benefit from games so they don’t become bored and destructive. This is not a dog for a small living space He will need room to run and would do best on a farm with acreage.
