<p><strong>Description</strong></p>
<p>This little charmer came from white foxing terriers at the end of the 19th century. They are the taller version of the Jack Russell Terrier, but a separate breed nonetheless. The Parson Russell Terrier is a small white dog with brown or black spots. Tradition dictates the tails are docked to 3 to 4 in&#8230;exactly long enough to firmly grab if you have to pull your dog out of a varmint hole. Their coats are either smooth or broken. They are 13 to 14 in. tall at the shoulder and ideally weigh around 13 to 17 lbs. They are a study dog without being bulky and have endurance and strength in their compact little bodies. They have a well proportioned head, and are very keen and alert. The ear flaps fold over and cover the inside of the ear, and point toward the eye. A flat head, strong muzzle, and jaws.</p>
<p><strong>Temperament</strong></p>
<p>This little guy has it all&#8230;intelligence, independence, energy to burn, friendly, and loving. Ideally he is a active member of the family, and he is in his element when he is allowed to participate in family activities. They won&#8217;t do well with small children or very young children, but are fine with older kids. They will however do very well with cats if raised around them&#8230;not so good however around rabbits, hamsters and the like. A good person for this dog is someone who has the same personality traits, and can be firm and constant in training.</p>
<p><strong>Grooming/Exercise</strong></p>
<p>Brushing and Bathing as needed are all the Parson needs. What they lack in grooming needs they make up for in the exercise department&#8230;they need brisk walks more than once a day, and plenty of secure yard to run around in. This dog will not do well in an apartment.</p>
<p><strong>Health</strong></p>
<p>Life Expectancy 15 year or more</p>

<li>Legg Pethes (a disease that affects the hip joints)</li>
<li>Dislocation of the kneecaps</li>
<li>Inherited Eye diseases</li>
