Greyhound

Description
It is believed to be related to and descendant of the Arabian Sloughi and dates back to 900 A.D. brought to Europe by Arabian traders. The Greyhound is the fastest dog on the planet. He can reach speeds of 40 m.p.h., or 65 km/h. The male Greyhound stands between 28 to 30 in. tall at the withers and weighs in between 65 and 70 lbs. Female Greyhounds are between 27 and 28 in. tall and weigh between 60 and 65 lbs. They have a very short coat that comes in any color…black, fawn, brindle, white and many more.
Temperament
The Greyhound has a sweet even temper, and a gentle spirit. Shy with strangers and even his owner, but don’t let that fool you he is very intelligent. Early socialization will help them be less shy, and timid. Don’t forget this is a hunting dog and was bred for the chase. Some can be trained to ignore any cats in the home, but for that to happen they should be raised around them. They generally have no issues with other dogs or with children, but are not fond of rough play, so young kids may not be compatible for the Greyhound.
Grooming/Exercise
A good brushing with a stiff bristled brush is all that is required to keep his coat healthy, and you should only bathe then when needed and make sure to dry them completely. The Greyhound needs a place to run that is safe and secure. They will also need a good amount of walking to keep them happy and healthy. Greyhounds can live in an apartment as long as they receive the exercise they need.
