Golden Retriever

Description

This wonderful hunting dog was developed in Scotland somewhere in the early 1800′s by Sir Dudley Marjoribanks (Later Baron Tweedmouth), he developed the breed by crossing a yellow Flat Coated Retriever and Tweed Water Spaniels…it was rumoured that there were Russian Circus Sheepdogs in the mix, but that has been proven false. Male Goldens stand between 22 and 24 in. tall and females are between 20 and 22 in. tall. Goldens weigh between 60 and 80 lbs for males and 55 to 70 lbs for females. Well muscled and proportioned the Golden is a sturdy dog with a medium to long blond to cream colored coat. The outer coat repels the water and the inner coat helps to protect him from the elements. He has a kind face and warm eyes.
