The Chihuahua is an ancient breed dating back Pre-Columbian Mexico, and it may possibly predate any other dog in the Americas. Exceptionally loyal they bond closely with their owners and like to be with them always. Smart they pick up things quickly, but can be difficult to housebreak. They need a positive, calm and reassuring pack leader to train them. You will need to socialize them early on to avoid any unwanted behavior later on. Overly spoiling this dog could lead to bad manners. This is not the best family type dog and doesn’t do well with children.
