Boxer

Description
Boxers rank in the top ten for the most popular dog in the work…according to American Kennel Club statistics for 2008, and have been in the top seven since 2002. The Boxer was developed in Germany in the later part of the 1800’s from a now extinct Molosser dog called a Bullenbeisser. In the late 19th century the rest of Europe met the Boxer…it took until the turn of the century for the Boxer to reach American soil. Male Boxers stand between 22 and 25 in. tall and weigh between 60 and 70 lbs. Females stand between 21 and 24 in. tall and weigh between 53 and 65 lbs. There tight fitting short haired coat comes in brindle, white and a many different shades of red with white markings.
Temperament
The Boxer is a Happy-Go-Lucky dog with a wonderful temperament and a good personality. Boxers will bond very closely with their families needing to be a full member of the household, and be a part of family activities. Boxers adore children and properly socialized they will get along with other family pets…but be careful of rats, or waterfowl like chickens or ducks. As with all dogs you must be the Boxers pack leader, and teach him manners so he doesnt develop any bad dog issues
Grooming/Exercise
Boxers are very clean and have been noted to groom themselves mush like a cat. You will need to brush them on a regular basis to keep the coat healthy and to distribute the natural oils in the coat. Bathe only when needed. The Boxer is an athlete and needs lots of exercise a good brisk walk in the park and plenty of play time. They can live in a townhouse as long as his need for exercise is met.

Life Expectancy is between 11 and 14 years.
